Staff Profile - Barbara Herrin
After being one of our favorite patients for years. Barbara joined our staff in 1997 as our therapy assistant. Her position has grown to include gathering and charting patient information, assisting on examinations and recording patient histories. She also assists the front desk and with insurance needs. In the last year she has also been irreplaceable in staff training.
Although she is capable of filling every position in the office, her real passion is to work directly with patient care. The quality of her work and the care she has for each patient is what makes her care so special.
Barbara is married to Olen (0. C.) Herrin. They have 4 children. 10 grandchildren, and I great-grandchild. They are very active in their church, First Assembly of God in Mt. Pleasant, and enjoy traveling and camping with family and friends.
Thank you Barbara for all you do. Patients and staff both appreciate you!

CASE STUDY
Chiropractic After Spinal Surgery

David is a 41 year old ex-college football player. At 6 feet 5 inches, he looks indestructible, but repeated impacts on the spine will take their toll on anyone. As a result of his college ball, David has had two different neck fusion surgeries and two low back surgeries.
Despite his surgeries, he has continued to have severe, almost disabling back and neck pain. After seeing several specialists, he was told to stop the surgeries and try chiro-practic.
After a complete evaluation and review of his history, chiropractic care was begun. After four weeks he reported 80% relief of his symptoms, as well as finally being able to sleep again and a great improvement with his stress levels.

Discussion
Surgeons are increasingly suggesting that patients try chiropractic care before considering surgery and also after a failed spinal surgery.
The reason? Many disc problems occur when spinal joints lock up. The change in movement stresses the disc and leads to stretching and tearing.
Chiropractic treats the locked up spinal joints, get-ting to the underlying cause of the problem.
Although surgery may help a ruptured disc, the underlying cause of improper spinal function remains, and if not removed can cause the same problem to recur. To help prevent a first or repeat spinal surgery  chiropractic is the first choice of treatment.
